If you are reading this, you are probably one of our wonderful, loyal customers who has either subscribed to a Monthly Forage Box or are considering doing so. If not, perhaps this short piece will provide some interesting reading about the role of a small foraging company in the modern world. Either way, I am afraid to have to inform you that May 2022’s delivery was the final one of our monthly subscription service and that all subscriptions have been cancelled (and refunded where applicable)

When we started this scheme, a little over two years ago, the world was a different place. Since then, as consumers, our dependence on online retail has sky-rocketed and this has put huge amounts of pressure on the sector. Now that delivery companies rule the high seas of online fulfilment, despite frequently falling short of what they are paid to do, we are no longer able to guarantee that our fresh produce arrives in the perfect condition it leaves Forage Box HQ in. It is a real shame, because the feedback is almost always very positive from those who get in touch with us, but I can’t handle the negative feedback when it is undoubtedly always to do with the poor transit conditions our parcels are subjected to. With that in mind, our online shop will now only stock our preserved items, to allay any risk of fresh produce spoiling.

This might all sound like I am stripping the company back to its bare bones. On the contrary - there are many exciting projects on the go and the opportunity to teach people about the wonders of foraging for food is back so we will now be concentrating on that for the foreseeable future. We also have our Wild Deli in Lymm (Cheshire), which serves exclusively wild and foraged food, including hot and cold takeaway items. You can also get hold of plenty of fresh produce here, offering budding home-cooks the chance to grab ingredients they generally won’t find stocked elsewhere. It’s all jolly exciting so please do pop in if you are ever in the area!

I will round off this short email to say thank you to everyone who has supported Forage Box so far. It’s been a rollercoaster two years but hopefully now we are finding our groove and our little company will continue to encourage people to get outside and enjoy the amazing pastime that is foraging. As always, be kind to each other and the world around us.
